Beast Mode.

So for the past couple weeks my life has been split into two. On the one hand, when I'm working and because I have had a lot of overtime, I have had to eat fast food on the run, work late nights and early days and lose sleep, not had time to go running and stuff. But when I'm home and have a more consistent schedule, my days will look like this - wake up at 7, eat a breakfast consisting of a few of these options - oatmeal/health nut cereal/greek yogurt/fruit/fruit and veggie smoothie/eggs and cheese/multivitamin, go to work, have vegetable soup for lunch, come home and workout/run, shower with baking soda instead of shampoo, drink post-running drink of chocolate milk (made the syrup myself!), cook dinner, read/video games, all electronics off by 9, in bed by 10 (since I am still trying to catch up on sleep). Ok, how awesome am I doing at being healthy and stuff?? Haha. Which is good, because I'm now officially signed up for the 2013 MuckFest MS in Boston on April 27 (team page here: http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/MuckFest/MAMMUCKEvents?team_id=320992&pg=team&fr_id=21243), the Color Me Rad run in Syracuse May 4th (http://www.colormerad.com/about.html), and I'm considering trying for the Empire State Marathon in the fall.

I've surprised myself with my runs the past week. A couple days ago, I thought I was going to push myself to do 3 miles - turns out I did 4, at a pretty good pace. I haven't ran more than 3 miles in months. Then the day before that, I didn't have a lot of time so I did a speed workout for a mile and a half - ended up doing it a LOT faster than I thought I would. I'm not sure why this is happening, I've been doing core workouts as always but I've been adding upper body workouts because of the MuckFest and sometimes that means lifting and other times it means yoga. My friend at work also asked a couple of us if we wanted to start doing insanity after work once a week - we did it yesterday and it was awesome, my calves and back are fairly sore today haha.

Last thought, I've been seriously thinking about getting a sugar glider. There's an exotic pet store in North Syracuse that sells them - in about a week and a half they'll have babies for sale. I've done some research - there's a sugar glider vet who has a ton of thorough videos online. Honestly the biggest thing deterring me right now is initial price. They need a large cage, which I would try to find free or cheap, but brand new ones run around $200-$300. And the cost of the actual sugar gliders is about the same I believe. That's a lot. It's not that I can't afford it, and after you get one they only costs about $10 a month to keep with food and stuff, and they imprint on you and will sit in your pocket while you do stuff all day. Really cool and cute, but do I need or want to spend that right now? Tough call :P

    1. that means a lot coming from you! thanks! and it's not a lot compared to what people pay for dogs and stuff, but it IS a lot for a rodent the size of a chipmunk. my boss won't let me bring it to camp anyways, so that's a bust - but saves me money! which is good because i also started a retirement fund...
